Mount Kenya University Students Association 2024 Induction and Training

Mount Kenya University Students Association (MKUSA) newly elected 2024 students attended a one-week training induction from 4th March to 10th March, 2024. The training was conducted at Sunset Paradise, new state of the art conference Center where the University was honored to do the official opening.

The council included leaders from Thika, Nairobi, Parklands, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret and Meru Campuses.

MKU Co-Founder and Director, Mind and Beyond Program Dr. Jane Nyutu, University Management representatives, University Council Member, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaganyi and staff from Division Unit of Students Welfare and Alumni affairs, trained MKUSA leaders.

The topics covered includes the following; –

  1. Mental Health and Wellbeing for student leaders
  2. The link between universities and society
  3. University sustainability
  4. Students’ governance and its link to the University Management
  5. The Universities (Amendment) Act, 2016, and relevance to students’ governance
  6. Academic progression of students’ leadership
  7. Some of the challenges students face and how student’s leaders can assist or guide them.
  8. University common units and online examinations on e-learning platform and other university students automated services
  9. University funding (challenges and mitigations)
  10. University education and the emerging trends
  11. External activation, their pros and cons, and benefit to students
  12. Service leadership as a student and beyond, Leadership that lasts
